What is a VIP?

1. General information
Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP) provide extremely low thermal conductivities. VIP are build from open pore materials like pressed powder boards, glass fibers or open cell organic forms. The core materials are wrapped in a high gas barrier film using a special procedure and then evacuated and sealed. The thermal conductivity of VIP produced by va-Q-tec (va-Q-vip) is only one tenth of the conductivity of conventional insulation materials like mineral wool or foams ca. 0.004 to 0.005 W/mk compared to 0.040 W/mK.

2. The Principle of thermos bottle in panel shape
VIP are evacuated thermal insulation panels with extremely low thermal conductivity: about 0.004 W/mK, which means up to a 10-times higher insulation performance compared to conventional insulations.

2 cm va-Q-vip correspond to about 20 cm of conventional insulation
Almost no gaps and thermal bridges at the joint of two panels

3. VIP applications
VIP are suitable for application where only little space is available but very high thermal insulation is needed. va-Q-vips allow highly insulating and thin constructions especially in the following areas:
• Shipping containers for frozen, cooled and warm goods
• Buildings (façade, interior, insulation,…)
• Vehicles (insulated trucks, electrical cars,…)
• Technical applications

4. Advantages of VIP
• up to 15-fold higher insulation performance
• compared to conventional insulations
• space saving but highly insulating
• constructions possible
• cover: high barrier metallised multi layer film
• high quality and long product life time
• patented production technology va-Q-seam
• patented quality control va-Q-check
